To many people he is simply Mr Hunslet. A great second row forward who gave over twenty years to the club as a player and then later as coach. One of the few people in the game to have had two testimonial seasons. Was awarded the OBE for his services to the game. He was the youngest player to tour Australia and gave a good account of himself when asked to play fullback. During his time doing National Service he played on the wing in a Yorkshire Cup Final at Rugby Union. He was a member of two famous Hunslet back threes, firstly with Brian Shaw and Harry Poole and then in the sities with Bill Ramsey and Fred Ward. Geoff was also instrumental in the formation of New Hunslet and hence ensuring the continuation of the club.
